Aunt Dina’s Salsa

This salsa recipe comes from my childhood besties family. Sydney and Alli are twins and Sydney made this salsa one year for Cinco De Mayo and I immediately fell in love and asked for the recipe. I never actually got the recipe until recently when I decided to launch my cooking blog. Alli helped me tremendously with my blog launch by taking pictures of me and helping film a video. It was a very last minute thing and all that there was to make were the ingredients for her aunt’s salsa. So we made it, and here I am…launching my first blog! I am grateful for my friends and their unwavering support. Hope you enjoy Aunt Dina’s salsa!

INGREDIENTS

Try to buy organic ingredients, if not possible be sure to check out the EWG for the dirty dozen. Organic or not, be sure to clean all ingredients well with a fruit and veggie cleaner, branch basics, or vinegar and baking soda!

1 bunch of Cilantro (pick off leaves if desired but stems are fine)

1/2 - 1 Jalapeño (remove seeds for less spice)

1 bunch of Green Onions

2-4 Dried Arbol Peppers (remove seeds) optional

6-8 Ripe Roma Tomatoes or 1 pkg of Ripe Campari Tomatoes

Salt to taste

Lime to taste

Add sliced cubes of ripe avocado if desired

INSTRUCTIONS

Wash all ingredients very well. In a food processor or blender add tomatoes, peppers, and green onion. Blend for a rough chop. Next add cilantro, salt to taste, and lime. If no food processor or blender, chop with a knife for a more chunky salsa. Add ripe avocado cubes for more flavor and protein. Pair with your favorite chips and enjoy!
